Te Tai Whanake ki Tauranga Moana.
The Te Tai Whanake project has been a pleasure to work on. It is a fantastic initiative and I hope that this kaupapa is extended right across the country, bringing local knowledge and history into a centralised learning resource.
The project was brought to us by local iwi with the backing of the Ministry of Education, so we were pretty excited to get involved.
And that's what we did - designing the website, a logo, branding, poutama and an animated graphic, all to encourage interactivity and engagement. The website is essentially a hub, introducing the concept and directing learners to iwi specific content.
To encourage the use of te rio māori we built this website reo first with an english translation, a twist on the norm.
We are very excited to see the Te Tai Whanake ki Tauranga Moana initiative become a standardised component of New Zealand's learning curriculum.
